6041.1: Holiday Observances - Laws and Requirements

Holidays which are required by law to be observed by public school districts in Nebraska will be included in the District’s curriculum guides and will identify the District staff who are responsible for the instruction of students.

Appropriate patriotic exercises suitable to the occasion shall be held under the direction of the superintendent on George W. Norris Day on January 5, President’s Day (George Washington's birthday and Abraham Lincoln's birthday), Dr. Martin Luther King Day (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday), Native American Heritage Day, Constitution Day, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving Day, or on the day or week preceding or following such holiday, if the District’s schools are not in session.
